1. List the (initial) characteristics of Man.
take note : initial refers to his traits before the bet

Friendly-"He stopped beside me and smiled..."
Polite-"Excuse pleess, but may i sit here"

The narrator descibe the man from head to toe.

Polite-"He offered the cigarettes to the girl and she refused, then he offered them to me and i took one"
Daring-"...If it misses just once then i forfeit the little finger on my left hand..."

Characteristic of Man ( Carlos )
. Serious - The man is serious about cutting off the American sailor's finger if he loses and also about giving him Cadillac if the American sailor win and even brought them to his hotel room to proceed the bet.
. Selfish - The man is selfish to take the woman's car that is not his to bet with.
. Mysterious - "It seemed he was already trying to make something out of this, and to embarrass the boy, and at the same time I had the feeling he was relishing a private little secret all his own."
