Questions on MFTS
Hellos...18 out of 38 students posted questions on Man From The South...you'll see the names here...all posted over at the tag box whereas Navin posted under comments from slides - all are acceptable.. (Ri Sheng posted 2 questions :) )
I'll be printing out the questions for our discussions next week..
Just in case, could I arrange for a Lit remedial/ extra class on Monday 29th September right after school as Tuesday I'll be on half day due to Hari Raya? So that we won't miss revision on MFTS...spread the news ok?
As for the 20 students, you have till Thursday (25th Sept) nite (8 pm latest) to post your questions...use your initiative if you don't have PC or internet..(get your friends to help you do so BUT questions must be originally yours..)

Navin: My question is;Both perkins and foxley were adults when they met at the train station..Why does perkins care so much about foxley? Foxley may have bullied him in the past by it is a little bit childish to reck up the past fot such matters. I mean that Perkins cnt possibly make foxley do all the chores he did for him right?

The american sailor was about to light his cigerette when the old man doubted that the lighter would light the cigerette. Then he ask the american sailor to bet about it.
It all seemed as thought he plotted it.
why the sailor never think before he take the bet is he really mad about MONEY even by risking it body part, is the sailor really that stupid to take the bet?

How come the number of fingers is more that the number of cars he lost?Does that means that Carlos has won quite a lot of times?

my ans is his wife maybe loved him alot and do not want to put into any mental hospital and maybe she believe that she can help to cure carlos 'sickness'.

It is probably because of the evening sun that is shining on the swimming pool waters resulting the water looks green to the narrator.

I think that Carlos will do tricks if he do not win the bet as he is so crazy no people were know what he were do to get the little finger.

This may be because the pool is clear and transparent.

Answer to this :
It's probaly because she never sat a car before and wanted to have a try of sitting it .
if the old man(carlos) was a lunatic,why would they let him wonder around

Ans:No,I don't think so.This is because he had lose the bet before.This shows that even if other pull him away from the bet,he won't turn crazy.

Ans:No,I don't think so.It is because he had lose the bet before and he gave Cadillac after he lose the bet.

Ans:I don't think the sailor is stupid and BET because of MONEY.He bet because of Americans pride as it had stated in the book that Carlos had said,"Certainly.Dat is de bet.But I tink you are afraid."
He doesn't want Carlos to think he is afraid and disgrace Americans.

Ans:Maybe she would want to send Carlos into the mental hospital.But,Carlos is not totally mad and thus she can't send him in.

-it is maybe because the old lady really loved him. & why would a wife send his own husband to the mental hospotal even if he is crazy. if that is happen, the old lady would probably not marry him at the first place.
