1.Do you think the bet is a fair one?
The bet is not a fair one. This is because the boy will lose a part of his body that he will regret for his whole life while the man lose a car which he might regret for a period.
2.What made the bet so enticing?
The man seems to be serious about chopping the boy's finger if he lose and serious about giving the young man an American car, Cadillac if the boy win.
3.Descibe the build up of suspense in the man's hotel room.
The man wounded the boy's wrist, then several times around the wide part of the hand, then he fastened it tight to the nails.Then the boy was required to clench his fist except for his little finger. The man skipped over to the bed and picked up the chopper. The man lifed the chopper up in the air and held it there about two feet above the boy's finger, ready to chop.When it reaches eight, the door opened and in came a woman standing in the doorway who is a small, black-haired woman, rather old who grabbed his wrist and threw the chopper on the bed. The bet was stopped.

I don't think that the bet is a fair one.Losing a part of the body justfor i car, i rather have my finger than the car. If i want the car, i would rather buy it with my own money.
2.What made the bet so enticing ?
The enticing part is that the man seems to make the bet very real. Choping off the fingers and giving the car away.

I think that the bet is not a fair one,because if the american sailor lose the little finger of his left hand,he will not be able to get it back forever but if u lose the car,u can still buy one more new one.

They wanted to bet on something that cannot get back once it is lost while something which can get back even if u lost it.

He hammer two nails into the table,about six inches apart...he allowed a small part of each one to stick up.Then tested them for firmness with his fingers....He wound the string around the boy's wrist, then several times around the wide part of the hand,then he fastened it tight to the nails.

- the atmospehere was very stern as in any minute of time, the sailor's finger will get chopped off.
- the atmosphere was scary. because at the start of the bet, the maninstructd the coloured maid to bring him a chopper, hammer and a bag of nails preparing to chop off the sailor's finger.
- the atmosphere was very silent. because after carlos finished nailing the two nails onto the table, the bet will start.
- the amosphere was frightening as when he wound the string aroung the sailor's wrist, then he fastened it to the nails.

Surely its not a fair bet,who would be dumb enough to bet on their own little finger,i would rather buy the car with my own money

No,I don't think so.This is because if the boy lose the bet,he gains nothing but had to cut off his little finger on his left hand.

The cadillac from the old man made the bet enticing.

The old man wounded the boy's wrist,several time around the hand,then he fastened it tigh to the nails.After that,the old man went to the bed and picked the chopper up.When he lift the chopper up and is ready to chop the boy's finger,the door opened and a woman came in then.She grabbed the old man wrist and put the chopper away.The bet stopped and she explain to the people in the room that what type of person the old man is.

I think the bet is not a fair one because the American sailor is betting his little finger which is a ppart of the body and he can't buy another little finger to replace while the Man(Carlos) bet the Cadillac which can buy the car again if he is rich.

The prizes , like the Cadillac , and the chopping of the little finger if the American sailor lose made the bet enticing.

The Man(Carlos) lift the chopper up in the air and held it there about two feet above the American sailor's finger, ready to chop.When it reaches eight, the door opened and in came a woman standing in the doorway who is a small, black-haired woman, rather old who grabbed his wrist and threw the chopper on the bed. The bet was stopped by the woman as she explain to the American sailor and the others(Narrator and the woman) that what kind of person is the Man(Carlos) before they came to bet.
